Quick Take: When a game has cover art this hokey looking and yet is still a popular game you know you have a winner on your hands. I've always loved speed games, and this is a wonderful version of speed that is quick and simple to learn but remains challenging enough to be an enjoyable game for both young and old. This is ideal for a family game night. It feels like an instant classic once you play.
How to Play: You win by collecting the most three card sets. Each card in the deck has several features: number, color, shape, and shading. To create a set the three cards must all have the same feature when looked at one-by-one or completely different features. For example: They could all be the number one, all be the color red, but each be a different shape and each have different shading. Twelve cards are laid out at a time and the first person to spot a set shouts out "set!" and then collects their three cards. The three cards are then replaced with ones from the deck and play continues in this manner until all the cards have been collected and no sets are left. Whoever has the most sets is the winner.
Variations: When playing with young children or with varying ability levels you can give one person a 5 set advantage at the beginning of the game.
