Game Like a Mother

Quick Take: Work as a team to play all your cards, low to high in two piles and then high to low in the other two piles. Simple, fun, and requires the right amount of strategy for a casual family game night. And it's cooperative! Much greater likelihood of this game ending in friendship instead of fights.

How to Play: Your goal is to play all the cards in the pile on four separate discard piles. Two piles start with the number 1 at the bottom and you play cards in ascending order, the other two piles start with 100 and you play cards in descending order on those piles. The deck has cards from 2-99, one of each number. Each player draws five cards and must play at least two of these cards each turn. You're allowed to give general commands to fellow players (I.E. Please don't play on the pile on the far left). Another key component is the rule of 10: if you've played a 56 on the pile of ascending cards, you can skip back to a 46 if you can play that card directly on top of the 56. Similarly, if you play a 23 on the descending pile, you can play a 33 directly on top of it. If you're able to play all 98 cards on the four piles then you win The Game!

Variations: If playing a minimum of two cards per turn isn't difficult enough for you, you can up the requirement to three cards. Also, if you're playing with younger kids you could make the rule of 10 a bit more forgiving and include a rule of 5 that has the same parameters.
