Game Like a Mother

Quick Take: I'll be honest, my idea of a good time isn't pulling mystery items out of socks, even if it's a clean one. The kids were reasonably into this game but it requires a certain amount of dexterity and while the youngest kids were the most excited about the game, the older kids clearly dominated in a game where you're trying to race to pull specific items out of socks. So you really have to be at least 8 in order to do well in this game and the thing is, by the time you have an 8 year old you have a lot of excellent games that are available to be played. This would be ideal as a party game for 8-12 year olds if you didn't make the adults play too. Our 4 year old enjoyed playing this a few times not as a speed game, just taking turns looking for items in the socks and counting how many tries it took him to find the right one. But it was very tough for him and he didn't want to play the game again the next time he had the opportunity. 

How to Play: Divide into two teams. Load identical items in both of the socks. Spin the spinner and have one player from each team race to find the item in their sock first. Only one item can be removed from a sock at a time. If you grab the wrong item, it must be placed back in the sock and the player gets to search for the item again. Once someone finds the correct item and pulls it out of the sock the round ends. Whichever team got the item first gets a point. All the items must be placed back in the socks and they are passed to the next player on the team to play for a new item. Whichever team gets to 11 points first wins. 

Variations: You can remove the speed aspect of the game and just keep track of how many tries it takes to find the correct object. This allows younger players to be involved in the game.
