Virtual school, homeschool, whatever your school plan is for this year sometimes you just need them to take a break and do something independently not in front of a screen.

Yamslam

Yahtzee spin-off that's faster, more competitive, easier to keep track of score, comes with a felt lined board that should be required of all dice games, and takes about two seconds to get the rules explained and get up and running on a game.

Great for a family game night, great for solo play so a kid can practice up and be ready to be extra speedy the next time they play with you.

It's like Sudoku but with cats committing crimes, which is way more fun. Cute logic puzzles with varying difficulty levels.

Dr. Eureka

Logic and dexterity game. Get the balls in the beakers to match the challenge card first, or in a single player game you just try to do this in the fewest moves possible.

Magic Maze

There's no talking in this cooperative game that feels like you're playing a video game. Race your heroes through the mall in order to steal magical objects and escape in time. Works well as a 1 player game too.
