Quick Take: Kind of like speed Uno. Simple rules, you play based on the color of the card or the word written on the card. But It turns out looking at the word "orange" written in the color blue is really weird. And it's that on repeat for all of the cards. No slapping in this speed game, each player starts with a pile of cards and you try to play them as quickly as possible. The first to play all their cards wins. Big points to the makers of this game for having the rules printed on the inside of the box, as well as having the box fold open so the top remains attached.
How to Play: Each player is given an equal pile of cards to start the game. The dealer plays the first card in the center of the table and you can play based on four criteria. Let's say your card is the word Red written in purple. You may play any card that has the word Red on it or has a word written in the color red. Or you may play a card that has the word Purple on it or is written in the color purple. Once the new card is placed, game play is based on the new card. Players all start by drawing three cards from their pile as their initial hand but if at any point they cannot play they are allowed to draw additional cards from their stack until they can play. There are also wild cards that can be played at any time on any card. If you play a wild card you get to announce the color of the next card that can be played. Once a player has played all of their cards they win the game!
Variations: This is the easiest type of speed game to balance out between different ability levels. You just deal out a bigger stack to the more skilled players. My daughter doesn't like playing a lot of the slapping speed games with my boys but she'll play this one if we stack the deck in her favor. They also provide a version of the rules where you take turns playing and remove the speed aspect of the game, which is key if you want to play with younger children who can't read the cards quickly enough to play this speed game style.
